Call for Special Issue Proposals (TRAJ Vol. 9, 2026)

The Theoretical Roman Archaeology Journal is pleased to invite proposals for special issues to be published within TRAJ Volume 9 (2026). We welcome proposals on specific themes or debate topics that engage with critical aspects of Roman archaeology and stimulate scholarly discussions in the field.
Special issues provide a unique opportunity to explore diverse perspectives, innovative methodologies, and emerging trends within Roman archaeology. We encourage proposals that foster interdisciplinary dialogue and push the boundaries of traditional approaches to studying the Roman world. Previous special issues can be found here.
Submission Guidelines:
1. Proposals should be no longer than 1,000 words and include a clear description of the proposed theme or debate topic.
2. Please provide a list of potential contributors and their affiliations.
3. Proposals should outline the expected structure of the special issue, including the proposed number of articles and guest editor details.
4. The proposal should be accompanied by a brief biography of the proposing editor(s) and any relevant editorial experience to ensure timely completion of the special issue.
Selected proposals will be chosen based on their relevance, scholarly merit, and potential to contribute to the theoretical and methodological advancements in Roman archaeology.
Important Dates:
- Proposal submission deadline: 31 January 2025
- Notification of acceptance: Early February 2025
- Final article submissions: December 2025
